340,000 mu of Farmland Taken Up by City Construction Last Year

The result of monitoring conducted in 66 Chinese cities by using the dynamic remote sensing technology shows that the construction of small cities and town and mines and new industrial projects in the 66 cities occupied 218,000 mu (15 mu = 1 hectare) of cultivated land, another 130,000 mu went to the construction of new railways and highways.

Most cities can reasonably use land in accordance with the requirement of the overall land-use plan.

The 66 cities under monitoring are mainly located in northeast, north, east and central-south China.
