Chinese Foreign Minister to Attend ASEAN Meetings

At the invitation of Foreign Minister Surin Pitsuwan of Thailand, current chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan will attend the first Foreign Ministers' Meeting of ASEAN-China, Japan, the Republic of Korea (ROK)(10+3), the seventh Foreign Ministers' Meeting of ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), the thirty-third Foreign Ministers' Meeting of Post Ministerial Conferences (PMC), and ASEAN-China Dialogue Meeting (10+1) in Thailand from July 26 to 29.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao made the announcement Thursday.

In addition, at the invitation of Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh of India, Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar of Pakistan and Foreign Minister Shunmugam Jayakumar of Singapore, Tang will also visit the three countries before or after the above-mentioned meetings, the spokesman said at a regular press conference here today.
