IASIA Annual Conference Ends

The annual conference of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) closed Thursday.

Over 300 Chinese and overseas delegates participated in the four-day conference.

It is decided that the next annual conference will be held in Athens, Greece, between July 7 and 13, 2001.

During the meeting, the participants read their papers and discussed issues concerning the conference's theme of "Improving Accountability, Efficiency and Responsiveness in Government: Ideas and Lessons for the New Millennium".

They held the same opinion that China has achieved remarkable achievements in administration restructuring, speaking highly of the Chinese government's effort in remolding its image by fighting corruption and adopting an open administrating and participatory democracy.

IASIA was founded in 1962 as a branch of IIAS and became an independent organization in 1971. The IASIA is headquartered in Brussels, with 170 members from over 70 nations.
