Northwest Chinese Province Starts Party, Government Bodies Reform
The reform of party and government bodies at the provincial level was formerly kicked off Wednesday in northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
According to the scheme announced here today, the number of provincial party and government departments will be reduced from 67 to 60.
Staffs of the provincial committee of the party will be cut by 20 percent, those of the provincial government by 50 percent, and law enforcement agencies by 27 percent.
The reform will also lead to a noticeable drop in the average age of key officials, said Ai Peishan, Shaanxi's deputy party chief.
