Yugoslav People Master Their Own Fate, Says FM

The Yugoslav people's fate is not in the hands of the European Union, NATO, or any other foreign elements, but in their own, Yugoslav Foreign Minister Zivadin Jovanovic said Tuesday.

This historic significance was embodied in the Yugoslav people' s resistance to the NATO invasion and in their post-war national reconstruction, Jovanovic pointed out at a Serbian Socialist Party 's meeting.

The foreign minister stressed that facts have proved any attempt to isolate Yugoslavia and thwart its economic development has fallen flat. Yugoslavia's international reputation has been rising instead, he said.

Yugoslavia maintains diplomatic relations with 166 countries and has established 97 embassies, consulates or interest sections in foreign countries. Seventy countries have their embassies in Belgrade, the Tanjug news agency quoted him as saying.
