IBM Eyes E-Commerce Deal With Chinese Motorcycle ProducerThe world's computer giant International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) is to join hands with Jialing Group, China's leading motorcycle producer, for building the country's first e-commerce platform in the motorcycle industry.A letter of intent for the cooperation project was signed Monday in Chongqing, a manufacturing center in southwest China. Zheng Xiaocong, general manager of IBM China Co. said it is the first time IBM is cooperating with China's motorcycle industry for the development of e-commerce. He said the project would change the traditional model of purchase, manufacture and sales in China's motorcycle enterprises. He Shibin, president of Jialing Group, said the e-commerce platform would help his company reduce costs and improve efficiency. IBM and Jialing began their cooperation in 1998.
