Ten University-based High-tech Parks to be Built in China

Ten university-based high-tech parks will appear in China within 10 years, the Ministry of Education announced Tuesday.

Zhao Yaoxue, director of the Science and Technology Department of the ministry, said his ministry and the Ministry of Science and Technology have already started construction on high-tech parks in 15 universities including the country's prestigious Beijing University and Qinghua University.

He pointed out that in the coming decade, China's university high-tech parks should become the most vigorous element of the country's technology innovation system.

In the same time, China will build 100 state-level university high-tech parks, train a number of personnel and establish a complete information service network for the parks.

The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology will concentrate on building state-level university high-tech parks, establishing a scientific management system, and turning the parks into key technology innovation bases in the country.
