Chinese PLA Navy Ships Call at Malaysia's PortA navy ship group of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China, consisting one missile destroyer and one support ship, Tuesday called at Malaysia's Klang Port for a four-day goodwill visit.The group is headed by Real Admiral Huang Jiang, Chief of Staff of the South Sea Fleet, who told reporters upon arrival that the visit aims to further expand the exchanges, promote and deepen mutual understanding and friendship. He said China and Malaysia are good neighbors enjoying a friendly relationship of long history and since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries 26 years ago, the bilateral relations in various fields have been further enhanced. As part of bilateral relations, the relations between the two navies enjoyed good development, he said. He believed that the objective the PLA Navy ship group's current visit would be achieved. During the visit, the group commander and the commanding officers of the two ships will meet senior Malaysian navy officials including the navy chief. The PLA navy ships will be open to the public for visit for one day. This is the second visit of the PLA navy ship group to Malaysia. The first group consisting of two other ships visited Malaysia's Lumut in 1997. Malaysia's navy vessels also visited Guangzhou, China, in 1999. |
