General Motors China Co. and Shanghai General Motors Co. signed a sponsorship deal on Tuesday with the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) to become the first-ever exclusive auto sponsor of the COC.
According to the four-year deal, GM China and Shanghai GM will sponsor the COC in the forms of cash and GM vehicles.
GM also inked an agreement with the COC to become the official auto sponsor for Beijing's 2008 Olympics Bidding Committee.
GM now has four joint ventures in China, with Shanghai GM the largest. Shanghai GM, which has a 1.5-billion dollars plant, is producing luxury Buick sedans and wagons.
