South China City Welcomes Foreign Investment in Agriculture

South China's Guangzhou city Tuesday held a conference to promote its agricultural investment opportunities to overseas investors.

The event attracted more than 1,000 entrepreneurs, agricultural researchers and investors from the United States, Japan, Malaysia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand as well as Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao.

Guangzhou mayor Lin Shusen said advanced technologies and investment from overseas would help accelerate the modernization and industrialization of the city's agriculture sector.

The capital city of Guangdong Province is offering 93 projects to overseas investors.

Officials said 21 contracts worth of 640 million yuan were signed today.
