Two Illegal CD Production Lines Closed Down in Macao

Economic and police authorities of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government four days ago succeeded in detecting and closing down another two production lines making pirated optical compact disks, the Macao Daily News reported Tuesday.

Following investigations for a certain period, inspectors with the economic authorities concluded that one factory was suspected of making pirated CDs found on the market.

With the assistance of police forces, economic inspectors raided the factory in the evening of July 7 but no workers were found there. In addition to two CD production lines, inspectors discovered a package printing machine and large amount of glue particles for making disks.

Police found several cameras surrounding the factory. The cameras would help workers evacuate rather quickly when there was something wrong.

In fact, the factory held the license to produce video compact disks. However, it secretly turned out pirated disks in the meantime.

Economic and police authorities had closed down three similar CD production lines on July 3.
