Southwest China Water Plant Project Receives Bank Loan

The Import and Export Bank of China granted 6.244 billion Japanese yen of loans to a water plant construction project in Chongqing Monday.

The funds were originally from loans given by the Japanese government to China for infrastructure projects.

This is the second infrastructure project that the Import and Export Bank funded with Japanese government loans in this southwest city.

The water plant involves a total investment of 1.24 billion yuan and will take five years to build. It will be able to supply 300,000 tons of running water to citizens in Chongqing, playing an important role to improve water supply in central city.

The bank will also provide 6.3 billion Japanese yen of loans to a number of infrastructure projects in Chongqing in the near future, including a superhighway, and a light rail.
