Barak Survives No-Confidence Vote

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak survived a no-confidence motion in parliament Monday when the opposition Likud party failed to muster the required 61 votes needed to topple him.However, the opposition did receive more votes than the government: 54 for the motion vs. 52 against. Seven legislators abstained and seven were not present. Barak was leaving immediately for his flight to the United States for the Camp David summit on Mideast peace.
