A total of 32,823 voters went to some 100 polling stations, which closed at 10.30 p.m. on July 9. The turnout rate is 19.49 percent. "The Commission is satisfied with various electoral arrangements, which were fully in compliance with the principle of fairness, openness and honesty," he said. "Legislative Council electoral activities now enter the second stage with the formation of the Election Committee," Woo said. Sixty Legislative Council members will be elected on Sunday, September 10, he said. The Election Committee will elect six of the 60 Legislative Council members in September. Twenty-four of the 60 seats will be returned by geographical constituency elections and the remaining 30 seats returned by functional constituency elections. |
