Northern Border City Attracts Investment

China's largest land port city of Manzhouli in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region signed agreements on 45 cooperative projects with investors from both home and abroad in the first half of this year.

The total funding for the projects is 41 million yuan, eight times the figure from the same period last year, an official source said.

The projects cover sectors of infrastructure, industry, real estate, and commerce, said Yang Hanzhong, the mayor of Manzhouli.

The investment boost to the city's economic development is expected to continue in the second half of this year, Yang said, adding that at least four projects involving 40 million yuan each will be signed in the period.

Located along China's northern border with both Mongolia and Russia, Manzhouli is now playing an increasingly more important role in trade with Asian and European countries.
