Chinese Golfer Wins First Canadian Tour Victory

Chinese golfer Zhang Lianwei won his first Canadian Tour victory at Ontario Open Heritage Classic Sunday in North Bay, Ontario.

He took the title to earn the top prize of 22,500 Canadian dollars(US$ 15,207) when the final round was suspended because of torrential rains.

He finished with a 54-hole total of 9-under 204 after firing a 4-under-par 67 Saturday to take the lead out of the first three rounds of the tournament.

"I'm very proud to have won my first event in North America on the Canadian Tour," said the Chinese golfer, adding "at every tournament I've played in, the local fans have been very nice to me."

Americans Ken Staton, Todd Setsma and Jason Schultz tied at 7- under to take the second prize of 8,666 Canadian dollars (about 5, 857 USdollars) each.
