Foreign Trade of China's Major Coastal Cities

Following are facts and figures about trade volumes of China's major coastal cities in the first five months of 2000, provided by the General Administration of Customs.

-- Shanghai: 20.329 billion US dollars, up 53.6 percent. Exports, 9.384 billion US dollars, up 40.6 percent; Imports, 10. 945 billion US dollars, up 66.8 percent.

-- Tianjin: 6.096 billion US dollars, up 25.5 percent. Exports, 3.095 billion US dollars, up 20.0 percent; Imports, 3. 000 billion US dollars, up 31.8 percent.

-- Guangzhou: 6.039 billion US dollars, up 20.6 percent. Exports, 3.077 billion US dollars, up 27.1 percent; Imports, 2. 962 billion US dollars, up 14.4 percent.

-- Dalian City, in northeast China's Liaoning province: 4.584 billion US dollars, up 46.8 percent. Exports, 2.619 billion US dollars, up 40.8 percent; Imports, 1.965 billion US dollars, up 55.7 percent.

-- Qingdao, in east China's Shandong province: 4.123 billion U. S. dollars, up 31.9 percent. Exports, 2.528 billion US dollars, up 30.0 percent; Imports, 1.595 billion US dollars, up 35.1 percent.

-- Ningbo City, in east China's Zhejiang province: 2.767 billion US dollars, up 50.9 percent. Exports, 1.944 billion US dollars, up 53.7 percent; Imports, 823.232 million US dollars, up 44.8 percent.

-- Fuzhou City, in east China's Fujian province: 2.605 billion US dollars, up 15.7 percent. Exports, 1.628 billion US dollars, up 14.1 percent; Imports, 977.266 million US dollars, up 18.5 percent.
