Venezuelan Minister of Energy and Mines Ali Rodriguez, currently president of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), will visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) next Thursday.
He will hold talks with UAE Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Obeid bin Saif Al Nasir on the latest developments on the world oil market, the official WAM news agency reported Saturday. The OPEC chief, to be accompanied by a high-ranking delegation, will also discuss with UAE officials on arrangements for the OPEC summit to be held in Caracas, capital of Venezuela, in September.
Rodriguez's visit to the Emirates will be part of his week-long tour of OPEC member states. It will also prepare for an official visit to UAE by Venezuelan President Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias in August.
During his visit, President Chavez will invite UAE President Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan to attend the OPEC summit.
