Ningxia Tourism Festival Highlights Desert, Yellow River

An international tourism festival focusing on adventures in the desert and on China's second-longest river, the Yellow River, opened today in this capital of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

Various programs such as rafting along the Yellow River, traveling in the desert and discovering the folklore of the local Muslim residents will be presented during the five-day event.

Major scenic spots in Ningxia are expected to receive more than 50,000 domestic and overseas visitors during the festival. A trade fair is being held simultaneously, highlighting package tour programs, tourist souvenirs and local products.

The festival has been jointly organized by the National Tourism Administration and the Ningxia regional government.
