US Olympic Committee President Visits Cuba

United States Olympic Committee (USOC) chairman William Hybl arrived Friday in Cuba for a three-day working visit to meet with Cuban sports officials and government authorities.

Hybl, whose visit seeks to strengthen bilateral ties, was received at the Havana international airport by Cuban Olympic Committee president Jose Ramon Fernandez, who is also Cuban government vice president.

The U.S. sports leader will meet with National Sports, Physical Education and Recreation Institute president Humberto Rodriguez, foreign Minister Humberto Perez Roque, and other Cuban officials.

He will also visit the Giraldo Cordova Cardin High Yield Center, east of Havana and other sites of historical, cultural and scientific interest.

Hybl is the first USOC president visiting Cuba.
