China's Largest Thermal Power Generating Unit Operational
The first 800,000-kw thermal power generating unit of the Suizhong Generating Company in northeast China's Liaoning Province, the largest of its kind in China, started producing electricity.
The construction of the project at a cost of 10 billion yuan (about 1.2 billion U.S. dollars) started in 1993. A total of four units imported from
Russia
with an aggregate generating capacity of 3.2 million kw are being installed.
The company is the key power plant connecting two major electricity networks in northeast China and north China.
