Israeli Minister Optimistic About Summit in Camp DavidIsraeli Justice Minister Yossi Beilin said Thursday he is optimistic about a U.S.-Palestinian-Israeli summit on July 11 in Camp David, hoping it will open new prospects for Israelis and Palestinians.Beilin met with his Palestinian counterpart Freih Abu Median and Minister of International Cooperation Nabil Shaath Thursday afternoon in Gaza where they discussed the latest developments in the region and the judicial cooperation between Israel and the Palestinians. Beilin stressed the importance of the summit, saying "I didn't beleive the leaders will go and come back empty handed." "There was no other option for both peoples but to be free of fear of more wars," he said. Shaath expressed hope for the summit's success, underlining the necessity for good preparations for convening the summit. He pointed out that the summit is part of the negotiation process. Abu Median said no breakthrough should be anticipated out of the summit while Andik stressed that every one should wait what will happen. Palestinian sources said here on Thursday a second summit can be convened in August. |
