China to Further Regulate Public Bidding Activities

China is taking further steps to regulate public bidding activities, in a move to make sure that potential bidders obtain relevant information equally, conveniently and accurately.

The provisional regulations for public bidding, issued on July 1 by the State Development Planning Commission (SDPC), are the latest effort to make sure that the public bidding law, which went into effect early this year, is fully implemented, an SDPC official said on July 6.

For quite a long time, public bidding activities were limited to a narrow scope, and in some areas illegal intervention was prevalent in the process, causing unfair competition and resentment.

Bidding reports for all projects should be made public via such designated media as the China Daily, China Economic Herald, China Construction News and the website: http://www.chinabidding.com.cn.
