Vice-President Visit Dunhuang Art Exhibition
Vice-President Hu Jintao and other government leaders visited the Dunhuang Art Exhibition in Beijing Thursday evening.

The exhibition, the largest of its kind in the world, is being held at the Museum of Chinese History, featuring replicas of the Dunhuang caves and original sutras found in the secret Library Cave.

Organized by the State Cultural Heritage Administration and the Gansu provincial government, the exhibition also displays dozens of precious cultural relics and delicate copies of the world- renowned Dunhuang frescoes.

China has arranged the two-month show to commemorate the centennial of the discovery of the Library Cave at Dunhuang, northwest China.

The exhibits include four full-size replicas of caves at Dunhuang, copies of 30 murals, ten copies of figurines, 14 authentic sutras and ten copies of sutras, six genuine paintings and 44 reproductions, as well as more than 80 photographs of Dunhuang relics preserved both at home and abroad.

During his visit, Hu said that every visitor here will feel proud of China's splendid culture.

He expressed the hope that Dunhuang art will be further protected, as will studies for the rejuvenation of Chinese civilization.

Wei Jianxing, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, and Vice-Premier Li Lanqing also visited the exhibition today.

The exhibition has attracted more than 10,000 visitors since it opened on Tuesday.
