China Develops Computer-Aided Translation Software
A Chinese company has developed computer-aided translation (CAT) software which can significantly free translators from time-consuming work such as consulting dictionaries.
Described as a new electronic solution to translating work, the English-Chinese and Chinese-English CAT software, a product of the Beijing Yaxincheng Software Technology Co., Ltd., has been recommended by the Translators Association under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Translators in China should learn to make better use of the computer and software tools so that they can be freed from some tedious and mechanical work and focus more on accuracy of translation, Professor Li Yashu, secretary-general of the association, said at a symposium on CAT technology here today.
