Venues Get Ready for New Examinees in Beijing

This year's college entrance examinations have arrived. There will be 50,000 students sitting the exams this year in Beijing. Examination venues are currently trying to do what they can to ensure that students are able to do their best in the exams.

Beijing has about 50 examination venues, all of which are schools. Preparations began two months ago. These preparations include arranging the classrooms, maintaining the buildings and the equipment that will be used, and selecting and training teachers to supervise the examinees.

The middle school attached to the People's University is one of the examination venues. During the three days of exams from July 7-9, the school is expecting to welcome about 1,000 students. The school has been an absolute hive of activity in the run-up to the exams guaranteeing that everything will run smoothly.

"We have 39 classrooms ready for the examinations,'' said Ms Huang, a teacher from the school. "Desks and chairs must be kept clean and there must be nothing written on them and there must not be any bits of waste paper lying around. Everything is at last ready.''

According to Huang, two health care stations have been set up in case of emergencies, such as heatstroke. There are also rest rooms where parents can wait for their children.

"We want to make everything as quiet as we can for the examinees. As such, we have asked the building sites near the school to keep the noise down, and they have been very happy to co-operate,'' Huang added.
