Ten Student Volunteers Join Army

The General Armament Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army recently enlisted ten new graduates of the China Science and Technology University, who volunteered to join the army.

The students are the first group of university graduates to join the army after the university and the PLA General Armament Department signed an agreement on supplying graduates for the army last year.

The Chinese government recently decided that a number of non-army-run universities and colleges will also train students that are fit to serve as officers in the army. China Science and Technology University is one of the schools involved in the program.

The university awarded a prize of 1,000 yuan for each of the ten who volunteered to join the army.
