China's Coal Export Expanding

China exported 20.93 million tons of coal in the first five months this year, up 45.6 percent over the same period of last year, according to the State Administration of Coal Industry.

The increase of coal export has effectively eased the domestic situation of coal supply exceeding demand, a senior official with the State Administration of Coal said.

China has maintained favorable growth in coal export since the beginning of this year and it expects to export a record 45 million tons by the end of this year, the official said.

He noted that China is expanding coal export and world market shares by stepping up construction of export coal production bases and improving coal quality.

The official stressed that to expand coal export is of great significance for the reduction of coal stockpile, the balance between coal supply and demand and the sustainable development of the country's coal industry.
