President Kim Dae-jung called on Asia-Pacific nations to expand tourism opportunities in North Korea to contribute to regional unity and prosperity. "I would like to take this opportunity to ask APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) members to broaden people-to-people exchanges and mutual understanding with North Korea, by designating the North as a tourist destination and the object of cooperation," Kim said in his opening address at meeting. |
