Jordanian Authorities Foil HijackingThree men attempted to hijack a Syria-bound jetliner late Wednesday, wounding 15 passengers by exploding a small bomb before one attacker was killed by guards, authorities said. The two other suspects were captured and the plane returned safely to Amman, said Capt. Jihad Irsheid, director general of Jordan's Civil Aviation Department. He said all the attackers were Syrians. One of the hijackers threw a bomb at security officials aboard the Royal Jordanian plane as they tried to prevent him from going into the cockpit, Irsheid said. He said three passengers had shrapnel wounds and are in stable condition at an Amman hospital. The remaining 12 were slightly wounded. The two suspects are being interrogated by police.
