Shanghai Customhouse Levied Taxes of 22.6 Billion Yuan in First Half of This Year
Information released by Shanghai Customhouse on July 5 shows that Shanghai Customhouse levied export and import taxes of 22.612 billion yuan in the first half of this year, up 30.6 percent over the same period last year. It collected 8.256 billion yuan of tariff on imported and exported goods and 14.356 billion yuan of value added tax on imported goods and consumption tax, respective increases of 32.3 percent and 29.6 percent over the same period last year, fulfilling 66.3 percent of the year's taxation plan, which was an all time high. Shanghai Port, China's largest foreign economic and trading port,, has for many years consistently registered a total export trade value and collected taxes that accounted for over one-fifth of the national total in these two aspects.
