Zimbabwe Sticks to One China Policy: Mugabe

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe Wednesday reiterated that his government will stick to the "One China" policy.

Taiwan is one part of China and Zimbabwe will never support Taiwan's independence from China, he said, stressing that this stand won't be changed even in the future.

The president made the remarks while receiving credentials presented by newly- appointed Chinese ambassador to Zimbabwe Hou Qingru.

During the ceremony, Mugabe spoke highly of the long-time friendship between China and Zimbabwe, describing China as the number one friend of Zimbabwe.

The president also expressed his appreciation to China's support to Zimbabwe in both regional and international affairs.

On his side, Hou said that China will as ever continue to support Zimbabwe in its social and economic development.
