Toy Exports Increase Sharply

China exported 1.88 billion US dollars-worth of toys in the first five months of this year, up 16. 4 percent on a yearly basis.

Toys made in China are popular in the global market. Statistics show that China-made toys now account for nearly 30 percent of the global market; nearly 70 percent of the toys in the United States, the world's largest toy market, were imported from the country.

Industry experts noted that China-made toys will have even more market opportunities in the future, citing that demand from Asian and EU markets will pick up, and the domestic toy consumption market is also expanding.

However, the added value of China-made toys is relatively low; Chinese toy enterprises are weak in design skills and lack of their own namebrand products; and the enterprises are not fully aware of the importance of protecting their intellectual property rights, resulting in too many counterfeit and shoddy toys, they pointed out.
