Reception Marks 40th Anniversary of China-Ghana Diplomatic Relations

The Chinese People's Association for Friendship With Foreign Countries hosted a reception Wednesday to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ghana.

Qi Huaiyuan, president of the association, said that China and Ghana, one of the first countries that established diplomatic relations with China in the sub-Sahara Africa, have had fruitful and satisfactory cooperation in the past 40 years.

Qi expressed the wish that the peoples of China and Ghana will help each other, cooperate closely and make common progress in economic development in the new century.

Oscar Ameyedowo, Ghanaian ambassador to China, said that his country will continue to make close cooperation with China for further development of bilateral relations.

Buhe, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Wang Guangya, vice-minister of foreign affairs, Ma Wenpu, vice-minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Kofi Attor, chairman of the foreign affairs committee of the Ghanaian parliament attended the reception.
