Iran Reiterates Support for Lebanese Hezbollah

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Tuesday reiterated Iran's support for the Lebanese Hezbollah, the leading resistance force in Lebanon against Israeli occupation.

Receiving visiting Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Khamenei underlined Iran's spiritual support for the Hezbollah movement and the Lebanese people, the Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

Khamenei also congratulated Nasrallah on the recent Israeli withdrawal from South Lebanon after 22 years of occupation, which he said was the victory of the Lebanese resistance movement.

He called Hezbollah the frontline of the Muslim struggle against the Israeli occupation, adding that the liberation of Palestinian lands is the ultimate goal of that struggle.

The Hezbollah efforts to fight Zionism has paved the way for the Palestinians to fight for their legitimate rights, Khamenei said.

Nasrallah, who arrived here Tuesday, presented a report to Khamenei on the latest developments in South Lebanon after the Israeli withdrawal in May, the report said.

He also expressed gratitude for Iran's long-time support for the Lebanese resistance, and stressed continuation of struggle against Israel until the return of all Lebanese lands and the release of all jailed Lebanese.
