More Airlines Use Macao International AirportSeveral airlines have expanded their aviation business via the Macao International Airport over the past days, according to a press release issued by the airport Tuesday.On June 30, the Hainan Airlines of China started daily scheduled charter flights between Macao and Sanya, a popular tourist resort in South China's Hainan Province. The 75-minute flights are operated by 32-seat Fairchild Dornier 328 JET aircraft and they also marked the inauguration of regional jet aircraft service at the Macao airport. On July 2, Malaysia Airlines' MASkargo began operating its two round-the-world all-cargo services via Macao, linking Kuala Lumpur with New York's Kennedy Airport with a technical stop en route in Anchorage, Alaska. The globe-circling freighter route returns to Kuala Lumpur via Hahn of Germany and Dubai of the United Arab Emirates. The flights, to be operated on Wednesdays and Sundays with B747- 400F aircraft, will replace the two weekly turnaround flights between Kuala Lumpur and Macao that started last November. Singapore Airlines has announced that from October its Trans- Pacific 747 Mega Ark freighter schedule eastbound from Singapore to the United States via Macao will double its frequency to six a week. Singapore-Los Angeles flights will also increase from two to three. The Singapore-Chicago/New York service will then be operated twice weekly and Singapore Airlines will inaugurate a new all-cargo route from Singapore to San Francisco via Macao. All flights will make a technical landing at Anchorage, Alaska. |
