More than 100 students from Tianjin and Taiwan Monday started a week-long camping activity for cultural exchanges.
The Taiwan students, including those from colleges, middle and primary schools, will be able to visit the Great Wall, the Palace Museum, the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace in Beijing, and watch folk art performances and listen to lectures on ballad singing, story telling, comic dialogues, clapper talks, and cross talks in Tianjin.
These students will also visit families of Tianjin students. Qu Gengshen, director of Tianjin Office of the Taiwan Affairs, noted that it is of significance for students from Taiwan to trace after their root and learn about the Chinese culture during the week-long gala.
Wang Yonghai, vice-director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, quoted President Jiang Zemin as saying that the 5, 000-year-old Chinese civilization would always serve as a spiritual link for the whole Chinese nation.
