FM Spokesman: Allegation of China's Assistance in Pakistan's Missile Program Groundless

The allegation that China has assisted Pakistan in its long-range missile program is totally groundless and relevant reports are out of ulterior motives, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi in Beijing Tuesday.

Sun stressed at a regular press conference this afternoon that China has always abided by the joint communique of foreign ministers of the five permanent members of the United Nations (UN) Security Council issued in June 1998 concerning nuclear tests in south Asia, and also the UN No. 1172 resolution.

China will not help south Asian nations develop nuclear weapons or ballistic missiles to be used in carrying nuclear weapons, he said.
