Compensation Paid for Plane Crash Victims

Compensation has been paid to the families of the victims of the June 22 plane crash near this capital of central China's Hubei Province.

Sums of 200,000 yuan (about 24,096 U.S. dollars) have been paid to the families of each of the 20 passengers who had taken out life insurance policies; the families of the other victims have been paid 121,100 yuan each.

Forty-two passengers and crew members were killed when a Chinese-made Yun-7 passenger aircraft of Wuhan Airlines crashed shortly before landing.

Seven people on the ground were also killed in the crash.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
