Macao, HK to Strengthen Mutual Judicial Assistance

Two high-level officials of China's two special administrative regions met here Monday and agreed on better mutual judicial assistance in the future.

At the invitation of Florinda da Rosa Silva Chan, secretary for administration and justice of the Macao SAR government, Elsie Leung Oi-sie, secretary for justice of the Hong Kong government, paid an official visit to Macao Monday morning.

The two officials told the press after their meeting that the two SAR governments will maintain close contacts and strengthen cooperation on mutual judicial assistance.

Elsie said the Hong Kong SAR government will organize a special team to conduct more thorough studies on judicial assistance in the two SARs.

Hong Kong and Macao have fine cooperation on some relevant issues, and such cooperation needs to be made more standard, Elsie said.
