Three Gorges University FoundedApproved by the Ministry of Education, the Three Gorges University was founded through a merger of Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electrical Engineering and Hubei Three Gorges Institute under the State Electric Power Corporation.The newly founded university is a comprehensive one at the provincial level. Operating with a complete institutional academic setup, it is also the first university built outside Wuhan City in Hubei Province. The university consists of 10 colleges and 47 majors along with 30 teaching and researching centers and many key laboratories at the provincial level, enjoying the right of granting Master's degree. Living on the campus of the university there is a student body of 10 thousand and a teaching faculty of more than 900, including 400 professors and associate professors, and over 40 Master and Doctor tutors. |
