Viagra Launched in China

Amid great expectations, the anti-impotence drug Viagra was launched in the world's most populous country on Monday with approvals from the state drug regulator.

State Drug Administration of China has approved the production and sale of Viagra in the country, US drug giant Pfizer Inc., the maker of the best-selling impotence drug, announced at a press conference simultaneously held in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou this morning.

Viagra will be available only with a doctor's prescription, and will be marketed with the registered Chinese name "wan ai ke", even though the pill has long been known throughout the country as "weige" - the Chinese phrase literally meaning "Great Brother".
