The 2000 Chinese Film Festival, organized by the Film Bureau of the People's Republic of China and sponsored by the Asia 2000 Foundation of New Zealand and the Pacific Culture and Arts Exchange Center, began in New Zealand on Sunday.
During the festival, which will be held from June 2 to August 16 in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Dunedin and Christchurch, about 10 outstanding Chinese films will be shown. They include "At the Crossroads," "A New Year Sacrifice," "Early Spring," "Genghis Khan," "The Road Home" and "Emergency Landing."
The films, whose production spanned more than half a century, reflect the history and achievements of the Chinese film-making industry.
