China Builds Park to Protect Ming Dynasty TombsChina is building a park in the Zhongshan Mountain in the city of Nanjing to protect the tombs of a 14th century prince.The Zhongshan Mausoleums Administrative Bureau decided to build the park after archaeologists discovered the tomb of Zhu Biao, the elder son of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founder of the Ming Dynasty (1368- 1644). Zhu Biao's tombs are referred to as the Eastern Tombs of the Ming Dynasty. Archaeologists discovered the site of the gate, drainage facilities and the base of a main hall in April last year in the southern part of the mountain in the east suburb of Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province. The building of the park will not change the original structure of the tombs so that the original outlook of the tombs can be preserved. |
