China Sets Up New Cellular Engineering InstituteThe Xi'an Cellular Engineering Project Development Center was officially inaugurated Thursday in this capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province. The state- designated institute is expected to invigorate China's bio- engineering research.Jointly founded by the No. 4 Medical College of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the Shaanxi New and High-Tech Industries Investment Co., the center will focus on the study of engineering development of animal cells, cross-breeding tumor cells, cellular-engineering and cell factor tests. The institute, funded with venture capital from the investment company, will become an incubator for important bio-engineering programs and play a role in transforming scientific research into products. |
