Chinese Communist Party Structure ChangesThe Chinese Communist Party (CPC) structure has seen changes in its gender, age and ethnic make-up.According to the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, by the end of 1999 women accounted for 17 percent of the 63 million Party members, and members from minority ethnic groups, 6.2 percent. About 22.5 percent of the Party members are under age 35; 19.2 percent, or 12.159 million, have a college education. About 48.7 percent of the Party members are working in industry, farming or fishery. Grassroots CPC organizations now total 3.51 million nationwide. CPC celebrates its 79th anniversary on July 1 this year. China now has a population of 1.25 billion. |
