Strategic Breakthrough Made in Jungar Oilfield Exploration
Xinjiang Oilfield Company has proved through geological drilling that a large oilfield is expected to be found in the anteclise uplifted zone of the heartland of Jungar Basin.
The southern slope of the uplifted zone, which covers an area of over 5,000 square meters, is an important region rich in oil resources in the Jungar Basin. Based on their in-depth studies, geologists of Xinjiang Oilfield Company deployed a key test well in the "three springs" region from which several oil-bearing formations were discovered. Recently the test well produced industrial oil. The daily output of light crude oil reaches 25.1 cubic meters.
Wang Yilin, general manager of Xinjiang Oilfield Company, said that the oil production of the key test well predicts the birth of a large oilfield. It is another important discovery in oil exploration history of the Jungar Basin, and is of strategic significance to the development of the oil industry of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
