CCTV to Televise Qiantang Tide Live

Viewers worldwide will have a chance to watch the tide of the Qiantang River, one of China's natural wonders, on their television sets on September 15.

The China Central Television Station (CCTV) will televise the tide live that day on its channels 1 and 4.

The tide of the Qiantang near Haining, a booming city in east China's Zhejiang Province, is one of the country's most amazing phenomena. Scientists say that the bell-shaped mouth of the Qiantang River near the city helps form the not-to-be-missed " Haining Tide," which has a crest as high as 3.5 meters.

An international tide watching festival has been held annually since 1994 and has attracted millions of domestic and overseas tourists.

This year's international tide watching festival is scheduled for September 13 to October 8.
