Shanghai CPC Official Meets Taiwanese Trade Delegation

Huang Ju, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, met in Shanghai on Thursday with a trade delegation of the Taiwan Industrial Association.

Huang welcomed the group, saying that people across the Taiwan Straits are of the same family as those on the mainland. It is both the hope and obligation of every Chinese to realize the complete reunification of the motherland, Huang noted.

He noted that the peaceful reunification and "one country, two systems" principles serve as the basis for resolving the Taiwan issue. He urged leaders in Taiwan to take into consideration the interests of people across the Straits and promote the earlier reunification of the motherland.

Huang also expressed gratitude towards Taiwan business people who have invested in Shanghai.

The 26-member Taiwanese delegation arrived in Shanghai Wednesday to promote economic exchanges and cooperation across the Straits and seek more business opportunities.
