Nokia Provides WAP Solutions for Unicom

Nokia has signed contracts recently with the China Unicom's subsidiaries to provide Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) solutions for them.

According to contracts, Nokia will provide Artus information platform and application for Unicom's subsidiaries in Anhui, Hebei, Zhejiang provinces and Chongqing Municipality.

With the technical support, these subsidiaries can offer mobile internet services to its users who have WAP phones.

China Unicom is the country's second largest mobile communication operator, and has five million users by the end of 1999.

Nokia is the leading mobile communication supplier in the world and in 1999, its net sales totaled 19.9 billion US dollars.
